What makes a good photo? A great photo? The answer is personal and rarely do we find solid
agreement. In my opinion, the best photo is one you like. If you like the images you are getting, they
are good photos. If, on the other hand, your spouse or significant other likes them, they are great
photos. Unless you are trying to sell your images, no other opinion matters.
The most valuable photograph ever sold, 99 cents, provides a great example. While fascinating, it is
not one I would care to hang on my wall. So good and bad are matters of opinion and taste.
That said, in the following pages I will provide a few tips on what equipment we use and how I make
a photo. I hope they help you to create more images that you like.
